Microsoft Should Set Windows Licensing for Free

Citrix had publicly urged Microsoft to set the windows licensing for free which will able to improve the market and allow the software house to sell their application bundle with the operating system. As Microsoft had started to contribute themselves into the open source world, I do have same point of view that Microsoft should actually set the licenses for free on the Operating system at least. They will still get paid for extra software like exchange, Microsoft SQL, Sharepoint and etc which will sell seperately as a servers base products. Linux world had really done a great job with providing some free Operating system cost and maintenance to be paid on yearly basis for support required. This will able to increase the volume of users to reconsider of implementing more application back to windows servers again. I had experience in migrating mostly 70% of the major production environment from Windows to Linux which due to the expensive licensing model which apply by the Microsoft, as well as performance and reliability. Nevertheless, as Microsoft still the market leader for many of the features and user friendly option been provided, except for the HyperV if you do compare it with market leader VMware.

Again we should cheer and encourage the knowledge sharing as well as the open source world for the success of today. As you may know, part of the HyperV are actually came from the open source communities R & D.
